In November 2021, Firaxis put out some job applications, including one for a Narrative Lead to work on their next AAA strategy game. However, we know that developer Firaxis has something cooking, and it is likely not XCOM 3. There has been no official announcement about Civilization 7 yet, and no credible leaks. It is also important to note that, very likely, we won't hear any news about the game until after the release of Marvel's Midnight Suns on 2nd December 2022. Since we don't know when will Civilization 7 (VII) come out officially, our guestimate is that the game won't release for a few years, likely sometime in 2024. It's been six years since the latest entry, Civilization 6, was released. Game TitleĪs you can see, there's roughly a five to six-year gap between releases of mainline Civilization titles. Looking at it from a historical perspective for mainline entries, we can see that the release of Civilization 7 is getting to the "overdue" point.
